Benaroya Hall - Information
Benaroya Hall is an iconic landmark located in Seattle, Washington. It is home to the Seattle Symphony and is a popular destination for music lovers from all over the world. The building opened in 1998 and was designed by Gerard Schwarz, the then music director of the Seattle Symphony, and architectural firm LMN. The hall was made possible through a generous gift from Jack Benaroya and his wife, Rebecca.
The hall is best known for its majestic architecture and acoustical quality. It is made of nine stories of steel, concrete, and glass and is said to be one of the most acoustically advanced concert halls in the world. The stage is surrounded by a large pipe organ, which is made up of over 4,000 pipes. Benaroya Hall offers several tours for visitors to learn more about its history and unique design. The guided tours are led by volunteers and last approximately one hour. Visitors can explore the Main Lobby, the Samuel and Althea Stroum Grand Lobby, and the Orchestra Level. The tours also include a behind-the-scenes look at the stage, backstage areas, and the green room.
