Gilley's Dallas
Gilley's Dallas is a popular entertainment complex located in Dallas, Texas. It became famous after being featured in the 1980 hit movie 'Urban Cowboy,' in which John Travolta rode its mechanical bull.
Originally opened in the 1970s, Gilley's was a massive honky-tonk and music hall that attracted thousands of visitors from all over the world who wanted to experience the country and western lifestyle. Although the original location closed down in 1989, a new version was opened in 2003 near downtown Dallas. Today, the complex boasts several separate venues, including a saloon and restaurant, that are popular for corporate and private events.
Visitors to Gilley's Dallas can still ride the mechanical bull made famous by 'Urban Cowboy,' and enjoy live country music in the saloon. The venue has also hosted numerous concerts, including performances by well-known artists such as Willie Nelson and Chris Stapleton.
