Montreal Biodome

The Montreal Biodome is a unique attraction in Montreal that offers an indoor exploration of four different ecosystems found in the Americas. Visitors have the chance to observe more than 4,500 animals from up close, including penguins, otters, and monkeys, as well as more than 500 plant species. The Biodome is housed in the former Olympic velodrome, which was built for the 1976 Summer Olympics. The velodrome was transformed into the Biodome in 1992, with each ecosystem being carefully recreated using natural materials to provide a realistic experience for visitors.

The four ecosystems that visitors can explore are the Tropical Rainforest, the Laurentian Maple Forest, the Gulf of St. Lawrence, and the Sub-Antarctic Islands. Each ecosystem has its specific flora and fauna, and visitors can learn about the different environmental challenges faced by each region. In addition to the Biodome, visitors to the Olympic Park can also visit the Montreal Tower, which offers panoramic views of the city and the surrounding area. The tower is 165 meters tall and was constructed as part of the Olympic complex. Another nearby landmark is the Olympic Stadium, which was also built for the 1976 Olympics. The stadium has a seating capacity of 66,000 and has hosted numerous sporting and cultural events over the years.
