Ocean City, New Jersey, also known as "America's Greatest Family Resort," is a popular seaside town located on the southern coast of New Jersey. The town was founded by a group of Methodist ministers in 1879 who were looking to establish a Christian seaside resort. Since then, Ocean City has become a favorite vacation spot for families, with its pristine beaches, boardwalk and amusement park.
One of the must-see attractions of Ocean City is its famous boardwalk, which stretches for two and a half miles and is home to numerous shops, restaurants, and amusement rides. The boardwalk is also a great place to catch a breathtaking sunrise or sunset over the Atlantic Ocean. Visitors may also enjoy visiting the Music Pier, where concerts and other events are held throughout the year.
Aside from its beach and boardwalk, Ocean City also boasts a rich history. The Ocean City Historical Museum is a great place to learn about the town's past and view exhibits that showcase the history of the town and its people. Visitors may also be interested to learn that in 1929, Charles Lindbergh, the first person to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, landed his plane on the beach in Ocean City. A plaque commemorating this event can be found at the site where he landed.
In addition to its history, Ocean City also offers numerous recreational activities for visitors. The town is known for its fishing, with charter boats available for rental that take visitors out into the ocean to catch sea bass, flounder and other fish. Visitors may also enjoy kayaking, paddleboarding or surfing in the Atlantic waves.
