Hounslow is a suburban town located in the London Borough of Hounslow, in the western part of the English capital. Situated approximately 10 miles from Charing Cross, Hounslow was historically an agricultural area before it burgeoned into a market town in the 13th century. Today, visitors can enjoy exploring the town's rich history and modern charm.
The town is renowned for being a former hunting grounds for King Henry VIII while the name Hounslow is believed to be derived from the Old English phrase 'Hundes hlāw', meaning 'the dog's mound'. The town's historic roots can be explored at the Hounslow Urban Farm and the nearby Brentford Lock.
