Cambados, a charming town located in the province of Pontevedra in Galicia, Spain, is famous for its wine culture and historical heritage. It is considered the capital of Albariño wine, one of the most significant white wines in Spain. This delightful town dates back to prehistoric times, and its name "Cambados" comes from the Latin word "Campus Stellae," which means "field of stars." Interestingly, it is said that the region was a significant trade route even before the arrival of the Romans. In the historic town centre, Cambados has preserved the medieval streets and charming squares with many historical buildings like the ruins of Santa Marina Church, Santo Tomé, and Fefiñáns Square. The Ethnographic and Wine Museum showcases the traditional winemaking process and exhibits a vast collection of wine-related objects like Romanesque wine presses and documents dating back to 1594 when the first reference to the Albariño wine was made. Visitors can also enjoy the beautiful gardens of the Parador de Cambados, a converted Pazo or Manor House from the XVII century. Cambados commemorates several festivals throughout the year. The most famous of these is the Albariño Festival, celebrated in the first week of August, which attracts winemakers and tourists from across the globe. The Fiesta of Seafood, held every year on the first Sunday of August, is an opportunity for the visitors to try the local seafood with live music and other events.
