Zandvoort is a small coastal town located in the province of North Holland in the Netherlands. It is situated just 24 kilometers west of the city of Amsterdam and provides an excellent opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city. Zandvoort has long been a popular destination for tourists who flock to the town for its sandy beaches, excellent seafood, and relaxed atmosphere. Historically, Zandvoort was first inhabited by the Romans and was used as a trade route between the Roman Empire and the North Sea. It was not until the 19th century, however, that the town began to emerge as a holiday destination. In 1828, the first bathhouse was built, and a railway line was established in the town in the early 20th century, making it easier for visitors to reach. Today, the town is a bustling beach destination, popular with locals and tourists alike. Zandvoort's beach is one of the biggest in the Netherlands, offering visitors a mile-long stretch of soft, white sand to sunbathe on and a wide variety of water activities to enjoy, such as windsurfing, kitesurfing, and paddleboarding. There are many bars and restaurants in the town where visitors can sample the local seafood dishes, including herring, mussels, and smoked eel. Aside from the beach, the town also has several other attractions to explore, such as the Circuit Zandvoort, a world-famous motorsport race track, and the Beatrixpark, a large green space with walking and cycling trails to enjoy.
