Galway is a charming city located on the west coast of Ireland. It was founded in the 13th century by the Anglo-Norman de Burgo family, who built the city’s imposing medieval walls that still stand today. These walls enclosed the old town, which is now a pedestrian-friendly quarter filled with narrow streets, colorful buildings, and quaint shops. Another historical point of interest is the Spanish Arch, a 16th-century stone archway that once served as a gateway to the city’s quays. Today, the arch is a popular spot for taking photos and enjoying views of the River Corrib.
Galway’s cultural heritage is also a major draw for visitors. The city is known for its traditional Irish music scene, with lively pubs like Tigh Neachtain, Tig Coili, and The Crane Bar hosting nightly sessions.
