Discovery Place Science in Charlotte

Discovery Place is a science and technology museum located in Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. The museum features interactive exhibits and hands-on activities that allow visitors to learn about science, technology, and nature in a fun and engaging way. The museum is divided into several sections, including the World Alive, where visitors can explore a rainforest, and Thinker Space, where they can build and design their own inventions. The museum was founded in 1946 as the Charlotte Nature Museum and was originally located in a small building in Freedom Park. Over the years, the museum expanded and relocated to its current location in 1981. In 2010, the museum underwent a major renovation and expansion, adding several new exhibits and upgrading existing ones. Discovery Place has become a popular destination for families and tourists alike, attracting over 300,000 visitors each year.
