Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park is a historic landmark located in Key West, Florida. The fort, which was named after President Zachary Taylor, was built between 1845 and 1866 to protect the United States coastline during the Civil War. It was also used during the Spanish-American War and both World War I and II. The fort was decommissioned in 1947 and transferred to the State of Florida in 1973. Today, the fort is a popular tourist attraction and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
