Fox Theater
Fox Theater is a historic theater located in Bakersfield, California, USA. Built in 1930, this stunning example of Art Deco architecture was designed by S. Charles Lee, a renowned architect of movie theaters during the Golden Age of Hollywood. The theatre was an entertainment hotspot in its heyday, with a seating capacity of 1,500 people and state-of-the-art technological features for its time, such as centralized air conditions and a cooling system for hot California nights.
Over the years, Fox Theater has hosted a wide range of performances, from live concerts by famous musicians and comedians to cultural and civic events. Some notable names who have taken to the stage include Duke Ellington, Bonnie Raitt, Jerry Seinfield, and Lily Tomlin. In 1993 the Theater was designated as a building of historic significance by the city of Bakersfield, and in the following years, extensive renovations were carried out to restore the building to its original splendor. Today, the Theater remains a landmark of Bakersfield and a must-visit destination for anyone interested in the Arts, history, and architecture.
