Situated on Rhodes’ east coast, the tiny resort of Pefkos is named after the pine trees that run to its beautiful sandy beach. Once fishing village, it has managed to maintain its old-world appeal – something you will discover in the hospitable bars, cafes and restaurants situated on its two main streets. The charm of this place is its slow pace-of-life, but the much livelier Lindos is nearby and the wealth of history waiting to be discovered in Rhodes Town is just up the coast.
The Blue Flag awarded beach at Pefkos consists of silky, golden sand around a quiet bay surrounded by fragrant pine forest. At one end, there are rocky coves that are perfect spots for swimming, and the clear waters are popular with snorkelers and divers. For watersports there are plenty of activities on offer from windsurfing to kite-surfing on Pefkos holidays.
Pefkos doesn’t really transform into a party animal at night. In most of the bars and pubs along Main Road and Main Beach Road you are more likely to find friendly conversation over a cold beer. There is always the opportunity to relax over the traditional Greek spirit ouzo at any lantern-lit taverna.
