Neatly renovated former English school house - character building. We had a large balcony with geat views over Valparaiso and the Pacific. Close to a bus stop but within walking distance of the Ascensor down to the central area. Our room was comfortable and a full breakfast with plenty of choice was included. Staff were very helpful with plenty of good advice and information and they lent us a laptop so we could pick up and send emails.

The rooms come with magnificent views over Valparaiso, allowing you to admire the bay from the comfort of your own terrace. The staff are extremely attentive, going above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. The breakfast provided is simple yet satisfying, the perfect way to start your day of exploring.

Since the hotel/b&b is located high up, it has great views of the city and the water. But there are also many steps to walk up to get into the hotel-this would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues.

We stayed at a hotel during Christmas and we loved the amazing views from the balcony of our room. to this, the location was perfect, just a short walk away from excellent restaurants and shops. We also enjoyed the simple breakfast served on a small terrace every morning.

Sound insulation in the hotel could use some work. The plumbing was noisy and did disturb our sleep when other guests used the water at night.

Wonderful welcome, in a beautiful location. We loved every minute. Luis and Claudio looked after us superbly, nothing was any trouble. The room was excellent, and the tranquility was exactly what was required.

Hard to say anything we didn't like. Only thing I would say, if you have difficulty with steps, this would not be the best place for you. The location is wonderful, on the side of the Cerro, but there are many steps up to the hotel, and stairs to climb to your room. If you are young and healthy, not a problem.

Breathtaking views from a beautiful room.

Valparaiso is not as pretty a place as you would hope it to be, and there are definitely places where you feel unsafe. We felt fortunate to have chosen this hotel, which we felt was the best place to stay in the whole town.

The views were fantastic! The bed was great. The whole place was clean and in great condition. Luis, a member of the hotel staff was just terrific. E was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend it to others. It was great value and in a good location.

Our stay in this charming hotel was delightful. The location was convenient and close to many great dining options. We enjoyed walking to the nearby restaurants and trying local cuisine. The room was clean and cozy, with a beautiful terrace that had great views of the city. the breakfast served on the terrace was delicious and provided a wonderful start to our day. Lastly, the staff was very friendly and provided excellent service throughout our stay.

The sound insulation in the building was not great, which sometimes made it difficult to sleep.

The Sutherland House is a unique property situated in an ideal location with spectacular views overlooking Valparaiso and the bay. The staff could not have been more attentive or helpful. The owner of the property even took a particular interest in the enjoyment of our stay. This is an excellent house hotel that is also a fine value.
