Peace and tranquility. The hotel restaurant is outstanding and Abergavenny is a centre for lots of very good restaurants so we tried as many as we could in the time available.
There are usually functions at the weekend and the hotel can be quite busy, so if you want a quiet break it would be best to book mid-week.

The countryside setting
My room had over 20 dead and dying flies on the carpet and window. Waiting ages at recption when we arrived, had to hunt down staff - would be good to have a bell or pager system

The setting of the Country House is very peaceful and pleasant. The breakfast was possibly the best we've ever had in a Country House setting and was served in a very pleasant room. Chris and his wife were very friendly and helpful.
A little hard to find the house since it is well off the road on an unmarked lane. Some signage where the lane joins the road would be very helpful! The double room we were in seemed small although the bathroom was large.

This is not a hotel. The correct title should be "Llansabbath Country Guest House" It is a Bed & breakfast facility only, as they don't do evening meals. The owners are very friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Our room was on the small side but this is a personal thing as it's not what we are used to and others may like it. The bathroom however was huge and had all the little bits and bobs you might forget. The GH is very rural with a single track road (approx 1 mile) leading to it. Breakfast was in the conservatory and had a very good choice menu with eggs, porridge etc cooked to order. Would recommend it for a relaxing stay in the area.

We were made to feel very welcome, we were offered tea and cakes the moment we arrived. The breakfast was wonderful lots of choice and well presented. The rooms were decorated to a high standard although our bedroom was a little cramped but had a spacious en suite. Overall it was a very enjoyable stay.

Having the free roaming hens and 4 cats coming to greet us ,after we opened the front wooden stile gate, they came greeting us to a country retreat. The Country house, was very nice, and had a lot of character and history, and a lot of estate money had been spent on the house. The house was quircky ,having nodding ornamonts, that rocked as you walked across the floor.Little nicies like mini macaroons, and toffees ,free flannels, fizing bath bombs,to relax while filling your bath.

Very welcoming - extremely well decorated; everything one coudl wish for; very tastefully done. Luxurious bathroom and very confortable bed! Breakfast was wonderful!! A hidden gem!
Quite difficult to locate as it is along a very narrow lane/road. There is no signpost on the main road. We were told that this was because the local council does not allow this - a very silly by-law and one that potentially hinders the small businessman/woman! If we did not have access to the internet we would have missed this hidden gem!
