I just returned from a fantastic two day stay at a charming hotel in the West Country. The staff went above and beyond, ensuring that our cheese course was served at the perfect temperature. The innovative menu showcased the best of locally sourced ingredients, and enjoying drinks on the sunny patio was pure bliss. Devon is truly a heavenly destination!

Superb team, prompt and friendly service at reception, bar, and restaurant. Excellent food, perfectly cooked steak, fab ham hock pie, and decent house wines. Warm welcome, helpful staff, good food, airy room. Lovely location, beautiful grounds, quiet with birdsong, perfect for dog lovers. Quiet and secluded area of north Devon, with excellent substantial meals for dinner and breakfast.

The food was absolutely delicious, especially the 5 course taster menu dinner on the first night. The staff were friendly and always made sure we were taken care of. The hotel's location was superb, nestled in a beautiful countryside setting, providing a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. We also loved the cozy fireplace where we could enjoy drinks before and after our meals.
During our stay there was a wedding fayre taking place, which meant the dining room was unavailable and we had to eat in the bar/restaurant area. This area was quite small and cramped, and there were numerous dogs present, making it a bit chaotic and noisy.

As a traveler exploring Cornwall, I stayed at Fox & Hounds for 6 days. The staff, especially the young man on reception/waiter, were wonderfully helpful. The location was pleasant, with beautiful gardens. The food at the restaurant exceeded my expectations, with a great breakfast and dinner menu. The keg beer and wine selection were also commendable. It's worth mentioning the superb service and delicious Venison and Rump Steak dishes. The hotel may need some refurbishment, particularly in terms of lighting and lounge areas. However, the overall experience was positive.
Would be happy to recommend this hotel.

The food at the hotel was excellent, with a variety of dishes that were skillfully prepared and full of flavor. The breakfast was particularly impressive, offering a wide selection and being beautifully cooked and presented. Another great aspect was the friendly and helpful staff, who went out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay. And the fact that dogs were welcome and well-catered for was a big bonus.
If I had to nitpick, our ensuite bathroom had a large bath that took a long time to fill, and my wife would have preferred a flexible shower hose. our room with a four-poster bed was quite noisy when turning at night, and we had to deal with noise from guests on the patio.

We really got our money's worth at Fox & Hounds Country Hotel. The room was clean, comfortable, and had a modern bathroom. The location was perfect for exploring the beautiful Devon countryside, and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating throughout our stay.
Breakfast offerings could be improved with quicker replenishment of the buffet items.

The value for money at Fox & Hounds Country was excellent, with a good-sized room and a private sitting area at a reasonable price. The location was perfect, surrounded by beautiful gardens, fields for our dog to explore, and even a river for swimming. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make us feel special during our stay. Special shoutout to Tom for making the best salted caramel martini expresso and making every guest feel important, and Maddy for providing us with local tips and even helping us find a Christmas tree!
The breakfast offerings could have been better, with more variety and options.

As trekkers and a group of friends, we loved the serene surroundings and the opportunity to take our dogs for walks along the river at the rear of the property. The room was spacious and comfortable, with plenty of tea and coffee available. The staff were very accommodating and allowed our dogs in all areas of the hotel, including the bar and dining area. The breakfast offered a varied selection of items and the food overall was of a good standard.
Felt like VIPs, no complaints whatsoever.

The location of the hotel is absolutely stunning, with beautiful grounds to take a walk in and a river nearby. The room we stayed in was spacious and had a great shower. The staff were very friendly and provided excellent service throughout our stay. The breakfast was delicious and we were catered for well, especially with our dog.
Although the food at the hotel was generally good, the menu lacked options for vegans, which was a disappointment.

The quality of the food truly exceeded our expectations. Additionally, the hotel is situated in a picturesque and peaceful location, creating the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing weekend break. The bar area was also very inviting and added to the overall charm of the hotel. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the hotel is dog-friendly, providing treats and bowls for our furry companions.
